Westhampton Beach is a small incorporated village on Long Island's South Shore, part of the Hamptons cluster, with 1,721 residents and a Main Street that fills up between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The draw is Dune Road: a strip of ocean and bay beaches a few minutes from town. Most visitors stay 2–3 nights, base themselves within walking distance of Main Street, and rent a car or bike for the beach run. Outside summer the village is quiet and many businesses close.

Get around
A car is the practical choice: Dune Road beaches are 5–15 min from the village and taxis are expensive in summer. Bicycles work if you stay in the village and only ride to the nearest beach. The LIRR Westhampton station is on the Montauk branch; trains are infrequent, so check the timetable before you commit.
