It is a craft town with a volunteer museum, a 15th-century tower house and a two-mile coastal walk to Portencross Castle. Get around
The town is small enough to walk. Stagecoach bus 585 runs every 30 min along the A78 coast from Ayr via Irvine, Ardrossan and Seamill to West Kilbride, Fairlie and Largs.
