West Hollywood is a small city (about 34,000 people) wedged between Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. It is not a sightseeing destination: it is a nightlife, dining and design district. The Sunset Strip runs along Sunset Boulevard, the LGBTQ+ bar and restaurant strip runs along Santa Monica Boulevard, and the design showrooms sit on Melrose Avenue. Get around
West Hollywood is walkable along Santa Monica and Sunset Boulevards, but the blocks are long and the hills are real. Metro buses run frequently east–west (2 on Sunset, 4/704 on Santa Monica, 10 on Melrose) and north–south (105/705 on La Cienega, 217/780 on Fairfax). The city runs free shuttles: Cityline on weekdays and The PickUp along Santa Monica Blvd on weekends. Rideshare is the default after the last buses thin out.
