The West Coast is the developed half of Peninsular Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya inland, George Town, Melaka and Ipoh along the Straits of Malacca. The spine is one highway and one railway, so you sleep in two or three places and move between them by train, bus or a short flight. Rain falls year-round; plan mornings outdoors and afternoons indoors.
