Wenatchee sits where the Wenatchee River meets the Columbia, on the dry east side of the Cascades, so it gets sun when Seattle is grey. The town itself is small and spread out; the draw is the riverfront loop trail, orchards, a ski hill 20 minutes up the road and easy drives to Leavenworth and Lake Chelan.
