Weert is a small Limburg town of about 50,000 on the InterCity line between Eindhoven and Maastricht, 30 km south of Eindhoven by road. The compact centre is a market square with a 72 m church tower, two small museums and a bakery culture built on Weerter vlaai. The surrounding Kempen~Broek marshland and the Peel are the real reason to stop longer, and they need a bike.

The centre is walkable in 15 minutes end to end. For Kempen~Broek, the Peel and the outlying mills, rent a bike at the station (Rijwielshop NS, Stationsweg 17a) — expect roughly €7.50–15 per day for a basic bike plus a deposit, and bring ID.
