Walewale
Skip unless you are driving the Bolgatanga–Tamale road and need a lunch or fuel stop: the mosque is worth 20 minutes, but there is no reason to stay overnight.
Walewale is a market town at the junction of the Bolgatanga–Tamale highway and the road to Nalerigu. Its main draw is a 1961 mosque with a Moorish tower, built on the site of an older mud-and-stick mosque. The central market is lively on market days, but the town has no major sight that justifies a detour. Most travellers pass through in under an hour.
