Wakaw
Give Wakaw one night as a lake stop between Saskatoon and Prince Albert: swim, ride the excursion train, skip it if you have no car.
Wakaw is a resort town of about a thousand people on the south shore of Wakaw Lake, 90 km northeast of Saskatoon and 66 km south of Prince Albert on Highway 2. It is aspen parkland: low hills, mixed forest, a beach park and a short heritage railway. One night covers it; two if you want a full lake day with kids.
