Wainwright is a town of about 6,300 people in the Battle River Valley of East Central Alberta, 206 km southeast of Edmonton on Highway 14 and 61 km south of Vermilion. It is a CN divisional point beside CFB Wainwright, a military base. The draw is a 1908 railway trestle, a small museum about buffalo and a WWII internment camp, and a late-June stampede. It works as a single night on the Edmonton–Saskatoon corridor, not as a destination in itself.
