Wadi al-Dawasir
Skip unless you are crossing the Empty Quarter or need a stop between Riyadh and Abha: one night covers the old palace and the drive to Al Faw.
Wadi al-Dawasir is a small desert city in southern Nejd, a gateway to the Empty Quarter. Its main draw is the clay Palace of King Abdulaziz and the nearby UNESCO site of Al Faw, an ancient trading town. Most travellers pass through on the Riyadh–Abha road; one night is enough to see the sights and rest.
