Wadduwa
Half-day stop between Colombo and Galle: see the fishing boats, walk the beach, then move on. One night if you want a quiet beach base.
Wadduwa is a working fishing village 35 km south of Colombo, with a long beach, water sports and a handful of resorts. It is quieter than Bentota or Hikkaduwa, and most travellers use it as a short stop on the west-coast train or a cheap base for day trips to Kalutara and Dehiwala Zoo.
