Vryburg

Vryburg is a working agricultural town in the North West Province, known as the 'Texas of South Africa' for its beef cattle. It sits on the N14 roughly halfway between Kimberley and Mahikeng. The town has a small nature reserve, a concentration camp memorial and a few lodges, but no major sights that justify a dedicated trip. Most travellers use it as a one-night stop on a longer route.
