Go for 2 nights in Jun–Aug if you want a quiet Balaton beach base; skip outside summer unless you are here for wine or walking.
Vonyarcvashegy is a small West Balaton resort village of about 2,200 people, 7–8 minutes by train from Keszthely. It has one paid beach, a handful of wine cellars and walking hills, and almost no nightlife. Two nights is enough; most people use it as a cheaper, quieter alternative to Keszthely or Hévíz and pair it with Balatongyörök next door.

Get around
No local bus or taxi in the village: walk, cycle the Balaton Bicycle Road, or take the regional Volánbusz. Trains run roughly every two hours along the Balaton south shore; Keszthely is 7–8 min away. Bike rental through the West Balaton network (Tourinform offices) is about Ft 1,500 for two hours or Ft 2,200 for a day.
