Viti Levu is Fiji's mainland: the international airport, the capital, the busiest roads and about three-quarters of the population. Most travellers use it as a gateway — one night near Nadi, then a boat to the islands. If you stay, the island splits into a dry west (Nadi, Denarau, Lautoka, the Coral Coast) and a wetter south-east (Suva, Pacific Harbour). The Kings Road and Queens Road circle the coast; there is almost no road across the middle, so every move is a coastal drive.
