Vilalba
Stop one night on the Camino del Norte or as a Lugo–coast break; skip as a destination unless you walk the trail.
Vilalba is a small Galician market town of about 13,800 people on a 480 m plateau, at the meeting point of three small rivers. It has one real sight, the Tower of Andrade, now part of a parador, and it sits on the Camino del Norte branch to Santiago. Most travellers pass through by motorway; walkers and road-trippers use it for a single night, a hot meal and a bed.

The town is small and level: everything in the centre is a 5–15 minute walk. Taxis wait by the central roundabout. A car helps only for the surrounding villages and the motorway junctions.
