Give Vero Beach 2 nights if you want beach time plus the museum and gardens; 1 night is enough as a Treasure Coast stopover.
Vero Beach is a small Treasure Coast city split by the Indian River Lagoon: a mainland side along US-1 with the museum, gardens and outlets, and a barrier-island side along U.S. A1A with the beaches, Ocean Drive restaurants and most of the hotels. Two nights covers the beach, the museum and McKee Botanical Garden without rushing; one night works if you are driving I-95 between Fort Pierce and Sebastian. Winter and spring are the seasons to aim for; summer is hot, wet and quiet, and some restaurants close.

Get around
A car is the practical choice: the beach island and the mainland are linked only by the FL-60/FL-656 causeway, and the sights sit 3–8 mi apart. Go-Line IRT runs local buses across Indian River County, and the Treasure Coast Connector links Fort Pierce to South Point Plaza on 43rd Street, but service is sparse and not aimed at visitors. Rideshare and taxis exist but are thin late at night.
