Vansbro

Skip Vansbro unless you are doing the Vansbrosimningen swim in July or need a quiet forest stop on the way to Sälen or Älvdalen: half a day is enough.

Vansbro is a small municipality in western Dalarna, deep in the forests along the Västerdal River. The town itself has a few cafés and a riverside walk, but the main draw is the annual Vansbrosimningen open-water swim (part of the Swedish Classic Circuit). Most travellers pass through on the way to Sälen or Älvdalen.
