Valleyview
Stop for one night if you are driving Highway 43 between Edmonton and Grande Prairie; skip it as a destination on its own.
Valleyview is a town of about 1,900 people at the junction of Highway 43 and Highway 49 in Alberta's Peace Country, roughly 350 km northwest of Edmonton. It exists for travellers as a bed, a meal and a fuel stop on the way to Grande Prairie, Dawson Creek or the Alaska Highway. The one real draw is Sturgeon Lake and its two provincial parks, 20-26 km west.
