What works with kids, by age band.

  • Vaduz is a calm town for children, but there is little built for them: the Landesmuseum has hands-on stations, the Rheinpark playgrounds and the dam path suit strollers and bikes, and the castle path is a real walk.
  • The best day out with children is Triesenberg and Malbun by bus: mountain views, a small museum and, in summer, a playground and a short walk; in winter a beginners’ ski area.
  • Under-6s travel free on most Swiss and Liechtenstein buses (check), and older children pay a reduced fare.
  • Kids’ menus exist on some restaurant menus (check); a supermarket picnic is the cheapest way to feed a family.
  • Strollers work on the Städtle and the Rhine dam; the castle path has steps and needs a carrier.
  • Family rooms in Vaduz are few and pricey; Schaan or across the border in Buchs has larger apartments (check).
