Uzumqin
东乌珠穆沁旗
Skip unless you want a steppe homestay with a Mongol family: one night in town or two nights at the yurt. The town itself has little to see.
Uzumqin is a small, mostly modern town in northern Inner Mongolia, close to the Mongolian border. It sees few tourists. The main reason to come is the Uzumqin Homestay — sleeping in a yurt, herding horses on a moped and eating farm dairy. The town itself offers basic hotels and restaurants; the countryside and Mongol culture are the draw.
