The Urals is a mountain chain running about 2,500 km from the Arctic Ocean to Kazakhstan, plus the industrial cities along it — not one destination. Yekaterinburg has the biggest airport, the densest sight list and the Europe-Asia border marker. Perm is a second base for the Kungur ice cave and the Perm Krai side. Chelyabinsk and Ufa are separate bases hours apart by train. Pick one base, day-trip from it, and treat the polar north as a separate expedition.
