Upper Sandusky is a small county seat in West Central Ohio where US 23 meets US 30, about 1 h 30 min north of Columbus and 1 h 15 min south of Toledo. It is a car stop, not a destination: a 1870s courthouse used in The Shawshank Redemption, a county museum, an 1861 grist mill and a September county fair. Most travellers pass through in an afternoon and sleep one night at the highway junction.

US 23 (north–south) and US 30 (east–west) bypass town as a freeway; use the business routes to reach the centre.
