Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake and 'hi, how are you?' — reply 'good, thanks'; avoid: Treating the question as a real health enquiry
- Restaurants: Tip 18–22% and wait for the check; avoid: Leaving without tipping
- Personal space: Keep an arm's length in queues; avoid: Standing close to strangers
- Politics and religion: Listen more than you speak; avoid: Opening with hot-button topics
- Smoking: Smoke only in marked areas; avoid: Smoking near doors or in parks where banned
Scams and watch-outs
- Summer heat and daily afternoon thunderstorms Jun–Sep; outdoor rides pause in lightning and may not reopen.
- Hurricane season runs late Aug–late Oct; parks close if a warning is issued for Orlando.
- One-day tickets are date-based and priced by demand — buy on the official site, not from resellers.
- Epic Universe needs its own ticket; a Studios/Islands ticket does not cover it.
- Halloween Horror Nights is a separate hard-ticket evening event and the daytime park closes early on those nights.
- Parking and resort fees are charged separately from the room rate.
The resort is well-policed and busy; the real risks are heat, dehydration, thunderstorms that shut outdoor rides, and pickpockets in dense evening crowds at CityWalk. Keep valuables zipped and drink water through the day.
