Two nights if you want the Yeongnam Alps or a Ganjeolgot sunrise; one night as a Busan–Gyeongju rail stop. Skip the city centre itself.
Ulsan is South Korea's industrial heart, 70 km north of Busan, and most travellers pass through rather than stay. What holds a trip is outside the city core: the Yeongnam Alps around Mt Gaji, the petroglyphs at Bangudae, and the east-coast sunrise cape at Ganjeolgot. The downtown wards are for eating and sleeping, not sightseeing.
