Ulldecona
Give Ulldecona one night, or a half-day stop between Tortosa and the coast: the castle, the Gothic church and the rock-art shelters are the whole draw.
Ulldecona is a small inland town in the Montsià district of southern Catalonia, on the old Barcelona–Valencia line and just off the AP-7 (exit 42, 4 km out). Its pull is a hilltop medieval castle, a Gothic parish church begun in 1373 and the UNESCO-listed Levantine rock-art shelters in the Serra de Godall, reached only on a guided tour. It is a half-day or one-night stop, not a base, and it pairs cleanly with Tortosa, Amposta and the Ebro Delta.
