Udhampur
Half a day is enough: see the Devika Ghat and Dudhari Mandir, then move on to Katra or Patnitop. Not a base.
Udhampur is the second-largest city in the Jammu Division, 68 km from Jammu and a common stop on the way to Katra (Vaishno Devi) or Patnitop. Its sights are two temples and a sacred spring; most travellers pass through in a few hours. One night only if you need a break between Jammu and the hills.
