Troy is a small city on the Hudson, 15–20 minutes north of Albany, with one of the best-preserved 19th-century downtowns in the United States. It is a half-day of architecture and a good dinner, not a multi-day destination: most travellers see it as a day trip from Albany or a single overnight. Two nights only if you add Peebles Island, Cohoes or Saratoga Springs.
