Třešť
Go for one night between Christmas and early February for the home nativity scenes; outside that window it is a 2–3 hour stop, not a base.
Třešť is a small Highlands town of about 5,600 people halfway between Jihlava and Telč, known for family-built nativity scenes ('betlémy') that owners open to visitors between Christmas and early February. Franz Kafka spent summers here from 1900 to 1907. Outside the nativity season the town is a short stop: a museum, a synagogue, a natural swimming pool and Roštejn Castle nearby. Most travellers see it as a half-day between Jihlava and Telč, or as a single winter night.

Get around
The town is walkable in 15–20 minutes end to end; there is no local public transport. Two train stations (main and Třešť-centrum) and a central bus station cover arrivals. Roštejn Castle and the Čenkov quarry need a car, bike or a long walk.
