Traben-Trarbach
Stay 1–2 nights: a small Mosel wine town for wine cellars, Jugendstil streets and the Grevenburg ruin, not a base for the whole valley.
Traben-Trarbach is two villages — Traben and Trarbach — joined by a bridge over the Mosel, 20 minutes by train from Bullay and about an hour from Koblenz. It was a major wine-trading town around 1900 and rebuilt in Jugendstil style after fires; today it is small, walkable and best used as a quiet wine stop between Cochem and Trier. One night covers the town; two lets you add a boat trip or a vineyard walk.

Get around
The two halves of town are walkable across the bridge in a few minutes. The climb to the Grevenburg ruin and the walk to Wolf are steep or long — use a bike or car. Trains run on the Moselwein-Bahn line to Bullay (about 20 min), where you change for Koblenz or Trier. The Mosel-Radweg bike route passes through town.
