Skip as a base: Törökbálint is a 17-minute suburban rail hop from Budapest with a mansion, a hilltop lookout and a lake — a half-day, not a stay.
Törökbálint is a small town 15 km west of Budapest, now a suburb of it. Its draw is thin: a Neo-Romanesque mansion, a Baroque church founded in the Árpád age, a lookout on Anna Hill and an artificial fishing lake. Almost everyone visits from Budapest on the S10/S12 train and is back the same day. Sleep here only if you want cheap suburban beds and a rail line into Déli station.
