Your browser asks for your position first. It is sent only to the OpenStreetMap Overpass server as the centre of the search; Voykit does not see or keep it.
Looks for public art, ruins, archaeological sites, wayside shrines, memorials, viewpoints, lighthouses, lookout and bell towers, caves, hilltops, gardens, heritage-listed places of worship and anything else with a Wikipedia entry. Private and fenced-off features are left out.
How it ranks
Each find starts with a score for its kind (ruins, caves and archaeological sites highest; gardens and plain notable buildings lowest). A Wikipedia or Wikidata entry adds 3, a heritage listing adds 2.5, and a kind that appears only once or twice in this search adds up to 3. Every 500 m of distance takes 1 away. Memorial plaques and Stolpersteine, which cities have by the hundred, and unnamed features drop down the list.
Be respectful: memorials and shrines are places of mourning or prayer. Stay on public paths, and treat caves, ruins and hilltops with care; the map does not know whether a path is safe today.
