Two parks, two days: one day each for Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Sleep in Urayasu or on the Keiyo Line, not central Tokyo.
Tokyo Disney Resort is two parks at Maihama in Urayasu, Chiba, 15 minutes by train from Tokyo Station. It is not owned by Disney: Oriental Land runs it, which is why the parks are built and staffed differently from the US ones. Two days covers both parks; three if you want a rest day or Ikspiari.

Get around
No car needed. Walk from JR Maihama Station to Tokyo Disneyland on the elevated walkway (about 330 m); Tokyo DisneySea is about a 15-minute walk the other way. The four-stop Disney Resort Line monorail loops the parks: single ride ¥250 adult / ¥130 child, 1-day pass ¥650 / ¥330. The Disney Resort Cruiser bus is free between Bayside Station, the Official Hotels and the parks.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: A small bow; a handshake if the other person offers; avoid: Hugs, back slaps, loud greetings
- Names: Family name plus -san; avoid: First names unless invited; adding -san to your own name
- Paying: Put money in the tray at the register; avoid: Tipping, or leaving loose cash for staff
- Trains: Queue at the floor marks, phone on silent, ask before reclining on the Shinkansen; avoid: Phone calls, eating on crowded commuter trains, blocking doors with bags
- Escalators: Stand on the side locals use — left in Tokyo, right in Osaka; stations now ask people to stand still on both; avoid: Stopping at the top or bottom
- Shoes: Off at the step-up entrance; toilet slippers only inside the toilet; avoid: Stepping on tatami in shoes or slippers
- Shrines: Rinse hands at the basin; bow twice, clap twice, bow once; avoid: Walking down the centre of the approach, which is for the deity
- Gifts: Offer and receive with both hands; bring a small omiyage for hosts; avoid: Sets of four; cash outside an envelope
Scams and watch-outs
- Park tickets are dated and sold in limited numbers: buy on the official site before your date, not at the gate.
- Parking at the parks is ¥2,000 per car per day; Disney Hotel parking is charged per night.
- Bringing your own food into the parks is restricted; declare dietary needs at the bag check and you are allowed to bring food.
- Bag checks at the gate are routine; allow extra time at opening.
- Crowds are the main cost: a normal weekend queue can be longer than a weekday one for the same ride.
Very safe, including at night around Maihama and Ikspiari. The real risks are summer heat and humidity in the queues, dehydration, and losing your group in the exit crowd: agree a meeting point before you split up.
