Tlaltizapán
Go for one night, or as a half-day stop from Cuautla: the centro is 2 h of sights, and Las Estacas is the real reason to sleep over.
Tlaltizapán is a small Morelos town with a 1535 Dominican monastery, Zapata's empty mausoleum and a Zapatista headquarters museum, all within a 5-minute walk of each other. The historic centre is quiet and walkable; the mineral springs at Las Estacas, 10 km north, are the main draw. Most travellers see it as a half-day from Cuautla or Cuernavaca, or sleep one night to swim.

The centro is compact and flat: walk it. For Las Estacas, Balneario Los Sauces or the highway hotels, take a taxi — hotel desks call one, or find the sitio near Parque Central on Av. Mártires 13 de Agosto. Rideshare apps are rarely useful here.
