The honest verdict

Tiraspol is the de facto capital of Transnistria, a breakaway region that most governments treat as part of Moldova. The town centre is compact and quiet, but consular help is very limited, foreign cards generally do not work and the road from Chișinău passes a checkpoint. Four small clusters cover a visit; sleep one night at most, and do not plan a tight flight connection after it.
