Tindivanam
A transit hub between Chennai and southern Tamil Nadu: stop for a meal or a short break, not a base. Half a day is enough to see the old temples and pond.
Tindivanam sits at the junction of NH 45 and NH 66, connecting Chennai, Pondicherry, Kanchipuram and Bangalore. It is a practical stop for groundnuts and watermelon, a few Chola-era temples and a man-made pond. Most travellers pass through in under two hours.
