Timmins is a gold-rush company town in Northeastern Ontario, spread over roughly 2,962 km² of forest and shield rock, larger in area than Luxembourg. Its pull is mining heritage and year-round outdoors, not a walkable sight list: downtown is compact, everything else needs a car or a bus. Winter is genuinely cold (January highs near −10 °C), so plan around snow, not against it.

Downtown is walkable in an afternoon. Timmins Transit runs 9 routes; adult fare $3.50. Most sights outside the core — Cedar Meadows, Kamiskotia, the trails — need a car; rentals are at the airport and in town. Taxis are the fallback after the last bus.
