Thiruvayaru

Thiruvayaru is a small temple town on the Kaveri River, 13 km from Thanjavur. It is known as the home of the 18th-century composer Tyagaraja and for the Panchanadeeswarar Temple, a Chola-era Shiva temple with a five-tier gopuram. Most visitors come for a half-day trip from Thanjavur or Kumbakonam.
