One night on the Marmara coast between Istanbul and Gallipoli: go for the seafront, köfte and Rákóczi house; skip if you want beaches or big sights.
Tekirdağ is a working Marmara port 132 km west of Istanbul, capital of its province and a rakı town turned industrial. The old centre is small and walkable — two museums, a Sinan mosque, a bazaar and a long seafront — and it works as a half-day stop or a single night on the road to Gallipoli, Edirne or the border. It is not a beach holiday.
