Tarragona

Tarragona is a Roman city on the Costa Daurada, 100 km southwest of Barcelona, with a UNESCO-listed Roman core: walls, amphitheatre, circus and forum. The Old Town sits on a plateau above the sea, and the beaches start just north of the centre. Two nights covers the ruins, the cathedral and a beach afternoon without rushing; one night is enough if you only want the Roman sites.
