Give Tantramar one night, not two: Sackville's boardwalk, market and gallery fill a day, Fort Beauséjour half a day, Dorchester an hour.
Tantramar is a rural New Brunswick town formed from Sackville, Dorchester and the hamlets around the saltwater Tantramar Marshes, on the Nova Scotia border. Sackville is the service centre and the only place with a walkable cluster of food, beds and sights; Dorchester and Aulac are short drives. Most travellers see it as a stop on the Halifax–Moncton corridor, or a base for Fort Beauséjour and the marshes.

- Marshland means mosquitoes and ticks in summer: repellent and long trousers for the boardwalk and fort earthworks.
- Winter brings ice and drifting snow on Route 2 and Route 16; check road conditions before driving between Amherst, Aulac and Moncton.
