Takua Pa
Skip as a destination; use only as a bus stop to reach Khao Sok National Park. One hour is enough to change buses.
Takua Pa is a market town on Highway 4, the main road between Bangkok and Phuket. It has no major sights of its own and most travellers pass through on the way to Khao Sok National Park (45 min north). The town is useful for a bus change or an overnight if you arrive late, but it does not reward a dedicated stop.

- Greeting: A wai (palms together, slight bow) to return a greeting; a smile and nod for shop staff; avoid: Waiing children or service staff first — it confuses; hugging strangers
