Takab is a small city in Iranian Azerbaijan, best known for the UNESCO World Heritage site Takht-e Soleyman, a Zoroastrian fire temple complex 45 km northeast. The town itself has a few sights—Jameh Mosque, Sardar Afshar Castle, the Tomb of Ayub Ansari—and Karaftoo Cave nearby. Most travellers come for half a day from Takht-e Soleyman or as a stop between Zanjan and Tabriz. You need a private car or a hired taxi; public transport is limited.
