Tajimi is a ceramics town in the Mino area of Gifu, 35–45 minutes from Nagoya on the JR Chūō Line. Its draw is pottery: the Mino Ceramic Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art at Ceramics Park Mino, and the Oribe Street shops. Eihōji temple, with its pond bridge and autumn colour, is the other reason to come. The city is small and spread out, buses are infrequent, and most travellers see it as a half-day or a single night rather than a base.

Get around
Public transport is thin: local buses run infrequently and the sights are spread out, so a car or taxi is the easy option. On weekends and holidays the Kikyō Bus Oribe Kankō Route runs six times a day from Tajimi Station South Exit to Eihōji, Tajimi Shūdōin, Ceramics Park and the Ceramic Art Museum for ¥100. Some Tōtetsu local fares drop to ¥200 in daytime.
