Tacoma is a Puget Sound port city of about 220,000, 35 mi (56 km) south of Seattle and the third-largest city in Washington. Its old industrial reputation is out of date: the museums, the waterfront and Point Defiance Park are the draw, and it works as a cheaper, calmer base for the South Sound than Seattle.
