Sutri
Half a day: see the Roman amphitheatre and Mithraeum, then a coffee in the old village. Not worth a night unless you are touring the Viterbo province.
Sutri is a small tufa hill town 50 km north of Rome, on the Via Cassia. Its main draw is a Roman amphitheatre carved into rock, a Mithraeum turned church, and an Etruscan necropolis. The village itself is pleasant for a short pause, but the sights are few and can be seen in 2–3 hours. Most travellers use it as a stop between Rome and Viterbo or as a quick detour from the Via Cassia.
