Stubaier Gletscher
A day trip from Innsbruck or a 2–3 night ski/hike base: one day on the glacier is enough for most, but skiers and hikers stay longer.
Stubaier Gletscher is a year-round glacier ski and hiking area in the Stubai Alps, 40 km south of Innsbruck. Most visitors come for a day on the slopes or a summer hike to the Grawa Waterfall. Ski season runs October to June; summer hiking is best July to September. The resort has a handful of hotels and apartments near the base lifts.

Scams and watch-outs
- Glacier skiing is high altitude (up to 3,210 m); acclimatise and use sunscreen.
- Check lift and trail status before going; weather can close the top lifts.
- The 13 km toboggan run requires a sled (rent at the base) and good snow conditions.
Standard Alpine risks: weather changes fast, altitude can cause headaches, and ski slopes are marked but not patrolled as intensively as in France. Carry a helmet on the glacier.
