Base here 1 night, not 3: the square and St Edward's Church take half a day, then use it as a Cotswolds road or bus stop.
Stow-on-the-Wold is a small Cotswold hill town of about 2,000 people, built around one market square where six roads meet, including the Roman Fosse Way. The centre is compact and walkable in an hour; the reason to stay is as a base for Bourton-on-the-Water, Moreton-in-Marsh and the surrounding villages, not for a long list of sights.

Get around
On foot. The town centre is small enough that you never need a bus inside it. For anything outside, buses run to Moreton-in-Marsh, Bourton-on-the-Water and Cheltenham, but services are few and stop early; a car or taxi is the practical option for villages.
