Stock Island
Half a day or one night: eat at Hogfish, see the artist community, then move on. Not a base — Key West is 10 min west.
Stock Island is the working waterfront of the Florida Keys — marinas, boatyards, food trucks and a growing artist scene. It has none of Key West's crowds or prices. Most visitors come for a meal at Hogfish Bar & Grill, a distillery tour or the I Love Stock Island Festival in July, then head back to Key West or continue east.
