Stark
Stop for 30 minutes to photograph the covered bridge and white church, or skip it unless you want a quiet walk in the woods. Not a base.
Stark is a tiny New Hampshire village with a classic white clapboard church and a covered bridge over the Upper Ammonoosuc River. It has no gas station, no restaurant and no shop. Most visitors come for the scenery and the nearby hiking in the White Mountain National Forest. A 20-minute stop is enough to see the village core.
