St. George's

St George's is a hilly harbour capital and Grand Anse is the beach base 15 minutes south: sleep at Grand Anse, do the Carenage and Fort George on a morning by taxi or bus, and book the airport taxi before you fly.

St George's fits in half a day on foot around the Carenage and up to Fort George, and the hills make walking harder than the map shows. The trips that go wrong are the uphill walks in midday heat, the Sunday closures, and hurricane-season weather from June to November. Four small areas cover the capital and Grand Anse; keep one bed and use taxis or minibuses for the rest.

GND to St George's or Grand Anse: one pre-booked taxi of 20–30 minutes; there is no train, and taxis are set-fare, so book through your hotel or take one from the airport rank.

Walk inside a cluster; taxi or minibus between the capital and Grand Anse.

Passes
No pass. Minibuses are cheapest, but routes are not printed: ask the driver or your hotel for the right one.
Late at night
Minibuses thin out after early evening and on Sundays; taxis are the late-night plan, so book through your hotel.

English is official; locals speak Grenadian Creole English, and a few older people in the countryside still use French Creole words.
